About Patrick Spike
Patrick Spike, known as just "Spike" to those close to him, resides
in Portland Oregon since 1999. He holds a BA and MFA degree
both in Theatre Directing from Western WA University and Humboldt
State University respectively. Patrick has been
involved with non-profit theatre for over 20 years, worked with small
to large theatres
as a director, performer and stage manager, coordinating
marketing and development, and has served as an active board member
and supporter.
He has taught classes at various colleges and universities and
earned the respect of administrators, artists and
students alike.
Through the years his knowledge
and broad experience enabled him to
advise many performing arts groups as to the best practices to boost
their sales, maximize their strengths and improve their bottom line.
Spike has applied his strong knowledge of computers and
technology to assist many companies. These include
both his current position as Director Customer Relations
for
Ticket Turtle (a provider of integrated ticketing
and customer service systems), and his former position
as Director of Information
Technology and Resources at
Portland Center Stage
(one of the 25
largest non-profit theatre companies in the US with a $4.8 million
annual budget).
With all this work in non-profit performing arts, his interaction
with other non-profits expanded out over the years as well, working
with such organizations as Friends of PWA Foundation (letter
of recommendation) as a
consultant, web designer, and publisher of their new logo and all
collateral materials. He was on the board of directors of the Oregon Bears
for a number of years functioning as web designer/webmaster,
membership coordinator, treasurer and special event committee member
for several special events. Additionally Patrick published the
club newsletter and event programs and coordinated advertising with
local businesses for these publications. He worked as office
manager for Redwood Arts Project in Humboldt County CA wherein he
re-designed the organizations website, published printed materials
such as brochures, letterhead, and newsletters, and he administered
the non-profit organizations annual funding grant, maintaining exact
bookkeeping and grant reporting records.
Patrick has been on the board of
directors for Bellingham Theatre Guild functioning as their
marketing coordinator which included publishing their playbills, newspaper display
ads, radio PSA's, press releases and more. He was co-founder
of Shakespeare Northwest wherein he helped the board to secure their
501c3 non-profit status with the IRS and their non-profit
corporation registration with the state of Washington.
Shakespeare Northwest is still thriving today now under the name of
Greenstage. He served on the board of directors for Lakewood
Players in Lakewood Washington and helped the organization to
revitalize their theatre in numerous ways.
Patrick recently directed and
designed a holiday production for Longview Stageworks theatre
company in Longview WA. During the process he consulted with
Artistic Director Yolanda Suarez on ways to creatively market the
production and the theatre, how to maximize their small performance
space and stretch every dollar, create as much "magic" for the
production as possible, and more. Feel free to read a
letter of recommendation
submitted by Yolanda.
As a producer and artistic
director, Patrick produced highly successful theatre productions in
Monterey CA under the company name of PS Unlimited Productions,
which also co-produced a hit production of Greater Tuna at
Ferndale Repertory Theatre in northern CA in which he also performed
and directed. He is now endeavoring to launch a new
professional cabaret style theatre company in the Portland/Vancouver
area entitled Spiral Stage Theatre Group.
Patrick Spike brings all of this
past experience, knowledge, skills and creativity to work for your
company. He works from a solid foundation of tried-and-true
successful strategies and practices, and mixes in creative "outside
the box" thinking to stretch your organizations budget and
positively affect your bottom line.
How may he help you?
